Newcastle Trip - 09/11/11

The group - minus Debi, plus Sam and Cath (honorary members for the day!)

A few snaps from our trip to Newcastle. Sam joined us for the day and we met up with our 3rd year tutor Cath Keay. First on the agenda was the International Print Biennale exhibitions at the Laing Art Gallery, and the Hatton Gallery where Debi's work 'Illusory Nature' is exhibited...

Then onto the Turner Prize at the Baltic... which garnered decidedly mixed responses. Before catching the train home Cath led us to an old victorian building just near the station, which houses the Literary and Philosophical Society library... in which, excitedly, she headed over to the Natural History section and picked out a couple of 150-year-old illustrated volumes of Nudibranchiae, which we sat and leafed through, whilst talking about her current project involving pedalos and tormented 19th century naturalist gentlemen. As is usually the case with our group trips, a constructive, inspirational, and thoroughly enjoyable day out!
